Match Report: Whitehill & Bordon FC 1-3 Colden Common
Hampshire Premier League – Saturday 29th March 2025.
Whitehill & Bordon FC suffered a frustrating afternoon at The Daly Ground, falling to a 1-3 defeat against Colden Common in Hampshire Premier League action. Despite the result, it was a proud moment for the club to be playing at The Daly Ground, which was looking in excellent condition and provided a great setting for the fixture.
First Half
The game started with both sides looking to settle into their rhythm, but it was Colden Common who struck first, capitalising on a defensive lapse to take the lead. The visitors soon doubled their advantage with a well-taken finish before adding a third, leaving the Stags with work to do heading into the break.
Whitehill & Bordon did respond before half-time, earning a penalty that was calmly converted by Dean Worman to reduce the deficit to 1-3. That goal gave the hosts a glimmer of hope heading into the second half.
Second Half
The Stags came out looking sharper and pressed for a way back into the game. There were moments of promise in the final third, but Colden Common remained organised and managed the game well. Despite their efforts, Whitehill & Bordon couldn’t find the breakthrough they needed to mount a full comeback.
While the result was disappointing, it was a significant moment for the club to be playing a league fixture at The Daly Ground, with the pitch and surroundings providing a fitting home for the Stags.
Manager’s Comments:
“We’re disappointed with the result, of course, but it was brilliant to see the lads out there at The Daly Ground. It’s an important step for the club, and the pitch looked fantastic. We know we can perform better, and we’ll regroup and look to bounce back next time.”
