Match Report: Whitehill & Bordon FC 0-1 Colden Common

🏆 Hampshire Premier League Cup – Semi-Final

Whitehill & Bordon FC’s Cup journey came to a heartbreaking end on Non-League Day, as a late goal from Colden Common sealed a 1-0 win in the Hampshire Premier League Cup Semi-Final at Oakmoor School (3G), Bordon.

First Half

The match was a cagey affair from the first whistle, with both sides battling for control in midfield and few clear-cut chances created. Whitehill & Bordon worked hard to find their rhythm and looked solid at the back, matching Colden Common in physicality and work rate.

The biggest moment of the half came late on, when Colden Common came closest to scoring with a low strike that rattled the post. The Stags went into the break level at 0-0, knowing there was everything to play for in the second half.

Second Half

The second half continued in similar fashion – tight, tense, and finely balanced. Both teams pushed for a breakthrough, with Whitehill & Bordon showing promise in attacking areas but unable to carve out a clear opportunity.

As the match edged towards full-time and the possibility of penalties loomed, it was Colden Common who found the decisive moment, scoring in the closing minutes with a finish that proved to be the winner.

The Stags fought until the very end, but the late goal was enough to deny them a place in the final.

Manager’s Comments:

“It’s a tough one to take. The lads gave everything, and we were right in the game all the way through. To lose it so late is heartbreaking, especially in a Semi-Final. But I’m proud of the team’s effort, and we’ll take this experience and grow from it.”
