Match Report: Whitehill & Bordon FC 0-6 Liss Athletic

🏆 Hampshire Premier League – Saturday 19th April 2024

It was a difficult afternoon at The Daly Ground on Saturday as Whitehill & Bordon FC were beaten by an in-form Liss Athletic side. The visitors took control early and never looked back, with a four-goal first half leaving the Stags with a mountain to climb.

First Half

Liss started on the front foot and took the lead following a scramble in the box from a set piece. A powerful header soon doubled their advantage before a defensive error was ruthlessly punished for 0-3. The visitors added a fourth before the break with a smart finish that looped over the onrushing Joe Choularton.

Whitehill & Bordon battled to stay in the contest, but struggled to break down a confident and compact Liss side in possession.

Second Half

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Liss continuing to apply pressure. A fifth goal arrived early after the restart, before a late strike into the roof of the net rounded off a dominant showing from the away side.

Despite the scoreline, the Stags continued to work hard across the pitch and showed plenty of effort in difficult circumstances.

Manager’s Comments

“Full credit to Liss – they were clinical and punished us when we made mistakes. It’s a tough one to take, especially at home, but we’ve got to learn from it and come back stronger. The lads kept going, and we’ll regroup for a big response next time out.”

Thank you to all those who came out to support us at The Daly Ground — we go again.

Up the Stags! 🦌🔴🔵
